Ummra Hung
Ummra earned her Masters of Social Welfare (MSW) from the University of California, Los Angeles and B.A. in Psychology from San Jose State University. She is dedicated to working with those who have been impacted by child sexual exploitation as well as formerly incarcerated people. As a consultant, trainer, and speaker, Ummra is involved in research and education in anti-human trafficking, particularly around the importance of trauma and impact of language/label usage.
A survivor of child sexual exploitation herself, while at UCLA, Ummra began doing research and empowering people through shared knowledge of trauma and healing that is possible through higher education. She uses her academic knowledge, history of being sex trafficked, and experiences with the justice system to promote the power of healing from trauma through agency and pursuing higher education. Ummra shares her story and voice in hopes to uplift the many other's who are still silent, to continue breaking barriers so that all can reach a place of healing and not only survive, but thrive.
